The deadline for submitting session proposals for Drupalcon Austin is March 7. It seems to me we've got too much to talk about to just have a single session on migrating to 8, there are multiple angles to cover. Some potential audiences and topics:
- Site administrators: how to prepare for an upgrade from Drupal 6 or 7, what the upgrade process will look like, ...
- Module developers: how to ensure your module's configuration and content will be cleanly migrated from Drupal 6 and Drupal 7 (and making sure the destination side is rich enough to support importing from other systems as well).
- Core developers: the state of migration support, outstanding work as of Drupalcon, how to contribute, ...
- Anything else?
I'm not going to submit/lead all those myself, of course, although I'll certainly be happy to lend a hand... Who wants to take on a topic?

I'm working on a proposal
I'm working on a proposal myself for the module developers session (I'll post a draft here for review). The core developers/state of migration session I think would be good as a panel featuring as many of the people working on IMP as possible - anyone who wants to participate let me know and I can submit that session as well. Anyone want to take on the site administrators session? I know it's still pretty vague what the upgrade process will look like, but we should have a good idea well before Drupalcon.
Thank.

I should note that while the submission deadline is March 7, I'm heading off on vacation March 4, so I want to get in my submissions March 3 at the latest.

Rough draft of proposals
Don't be late, migrate to 8
With Drupal 8, upgrades from previous Drupal versions will now be using a migration path rather than the familiar update hooks. As a contrib module author, what do you need to do to ensure your module will upgrade cleanly? We'll discuss writing migration configurations for your module's data, handling upgrades from either D6 or D7, and destination plugins to support not just Drupal upgrades but imports from other systems.
Status of Migrate in 8
A panel of people involved in implementing the migration-based upgrade path for Drupal 8 will present what's been done, what's left to do, and mostly answer people's questions.

Would have loved to have been involved but unfortunately I can't make it to Austin.
Good luck with the talks.
I'll be in Austin
As mentioned in irc, I'm able to contribute to this in some way (ie, on a panel etc) as I plan to be at DrupalCon Austin. I'm probably most interested in the site administrators component but any of the above subjects are OK.

Ryan, looks like you haven't registered on the Drupalcon site so I wasn't able to add you to the panel, once you're registered there I can add you in (plus anyone else who would like to be a part of it!).
Thanks.

Ok, logged in there...
You're probably on vacation by now... but in case you're still around...
I logged into the DrupalCon Austin site, first by creating an account and then by using my existing Drupal.org login credentials.
In case you get two different users because of this, try https://austin2014.drupal.org/user/12288 as this one is linked to drupal.org.
