I've not heard any news or word of CapitalCamp 2014 and I wanted to see where things stand for this year?

Is Atlanta's Drupal camp cancellation a bad omen?
Just read today that Mediacurrent could no longer sponsor their DrupalCamp. Cost and amount of time were mentioned, and frankly, the popularity of Drupal is partially to "blame". All the sessions get full, and finding a big venue is a challenge. George Washington Univ is convenient, but some classes last year were packed.

Stirrings in the north
The energy in the Baltimore/DC/NoVa Drupal community has been constantly shifting. And though Drupal adoption is growing regionally I'm seeing a lot of people working in Drupal but not participating in the community. You're always going to have that but perhaps there's some things we can do. I'll bring the topic up at the Baltimore Drupal Meetup on Wednesday.
By the way, some time next week we'll be announcing the Baltimore Drupal Camp. DM me If anyone wants to help.

You're absolutely right about participation and energy level.
Being mostly independent in my work, I unfortunately don't have any venue space to offer, and so have to work with local firms about coordinating space for local events. Usually, firms are gracious to offer space and support. Sometimes, though, I've had to cancel some events with little warning due competing commitments at the host firm.
As more of our work moves to the FOSS community, people need to be aware that it can only thrive via active participation.
