Meetup cancelled

I have had no RSVPs. Check Meetup.com for the Bakersfield HTML5 meetup.

I will try again next month - pretty sure I can pull some participants in from the HTML5 group are have shown some interest in Drupal, so don't despair! We'll get legs under this group yet.

Important notice:

The Bakersfield Drupal User Group is morphing in to a monthly study group format due to the small number of regular attendees. Drupal is still important to Bakersfield, and I am committed to helping more Bako devs learn the awesomeness that is Drupal.

This new format will work better as those in attendance will get more individual attention on their current challenges in building with Drupal. I'll put forth a proposed topic each month, which will be covered briefly, or in an extended fashion if the attendees want to dig deeper.

RSVPs are now required

Due to the small number of regular attendees I must have at least one RSVP one day prior to the meetup or it will get canceled and booked again for the following month. In order to RSVP - you must become a member of Drupal.org and look for the Signup button at the bottom of this announcement.

I will be happy to hold this meetup for a single individual. I just need to know your coming and you will receive a lot of individual attention!

Other web-related meetups in Bakersfield

I strongly encourage local web-devs to check out Bakersfield's other web-dev related meetup - this may be a better format for beginners, and web-devs who may not yet be in to building specifically with Drupal.
Bakersfield HTML5

Full disclosure - I am a co-organizer of Bakersfield HTML5.

May 2014 Topic: Integrating AngualrJS in to Drupal 7

We're going to take a look at a functional example of a custom Drupal RESTful web service consumed and displayed with AngualrJS via a custom Drupal block.

Exciting stuff! If you have ever dreamed of breaking out of Drupal's insane-theming-layer-clown-show then this example will be delicious food for thought.

We'll cover building a custom service and integrating it in to your site with the Services module.

Then we'll look at putting together a custom block that loads your AngualrJS environment and connects it to your new Drupal based web service.

Then it's all fun and merriment doing cool stuff on the front-end with AngualrJS!

Where

Kern County Superintendent of Schools - 1300 17th Street in downtown Bakersfield. We will be meeting in the technology center on the second floor. Note: the front doors to the City Center will be locked, you must enter through the doors at the opposite end of the building facing the parking garage.

Please call the phone number on the sign to be brought up to the second floor!

Parking is available in the parking garage behind the building - enter on 18th street or park on the streets around the building.

When

Tuesday, March 4, 2014 starting at 6:00 for networking, the meetup will begin at 6:00 and last two and a half hours. We have regular meetups on the first Tuesday of every month.

Meetup format

This meetup is now officially a study-group format. We'll announce a topic that will be covered, usually a case-study, and then we'll discuss Drupal topics brought up by those in attendance. Bring you current Drupal challenge or tough questions.

Drupal-newbies welcome! If you are Drupal-curious and think you may have a web application that could be built on Drupal then RSVP and come to this meetup!

Usually there will be no pizza or other food provided, but we will have some bottled-water for the parched. If those who wish to attend would like to have a pizza please contact me at erin-at-redjupiter-dot-com and I'll chip-in the first $5 so can pipe-in some hot Costco pizza pie!
