Maps are the new blogs, or maybe MAP ALL THE THINGS.

Since everyone must have a map, this month Amber Matz (agentolivia) will be walking us through setting up Leaflet maps in various ways in Drupal. If you are new to mapping in Drupal or want to build responsive mapping features out of the box with your eyes closed, then this is the presentation for you.

This month we have pizza sponsored by OMBU, and beer from OpenSourcery. As the story goes, we'll have social half-hour starting at 6pm. Right around 6:30 or so, we'll get on with the presentation. Afterwards, we'll make our way to the Lucky Lab on NW 19th & Quimby.

See you at OpenSourcery (NW 16th & Lovejoy) for #PDXDUG.

On the mapping subject

So I can't seem to make it to these anymore, but I did want to share this leaflet map I added to the responsive D7 PublicAlerts.org site. It will show you where your closest BEECN site is and the distance to it. It also takes into consideration bridges and other obstacles so the closest actual site may not be the one you should head for.
It uses d3 to load the layers and leaflet Point in Polygon to determine which BEECN site you should head for.
