Hey all,
I'm finishing up a site where the business is wanting to apply the sales tax based upon the shipping address, and not just the standard base CA sales tax.
I have the store setup with drupal commerce, and currently using the sales tax module.
Wondering what some people's experience might be. It looks to me as if it is a complex setup of the tax rules. Or might there be some kind of secret sauce for making this easier?
Cheers

Sales tax by zip code
Just like you need a rule to catch the ship state to get a state wide sales tax, you can build rules to look at the zip code and change the sales tax based on that. If you Google around, you should see something about how to do this.

Just made everyone's job easier
I just got off of the phone with the BOE.
Here is how it works:
Charge the state sales tax of 7.5% when shipped within the state of CA. Charge the district tax when shipped within the district.
Basic examples with a store or ware house in Santa Cruz:
1) Sale within Santa Cruz county - charge Santa Cruz county sales tax
2) Sale outside of Santa Cruz county, but within the state of CA - charge statewide 7.5%
3) Sale outside of CA, no tax.
Here's the one thing that must be done though... ALL transactions must be logged and verifiable.
WOOT!
The time I just spent on that call was worth it.
Makes things a great deal easier.
