I would like to see how open atrium 2 has been used for project management. With open atrium 1, one could have multiple projects, each with multiple tasks. I don't see how open atrium 2 accomplishes this? I can't create a section for each project. Any thoughts or solutions?

Try another solution: erpal.info

Erpal is built with Drupal.
You can demo the site at:

In Open Atrium 2, there isn't a "Project" type. What you use for your projects, is actually up to you! But you definitely CAN use Sections for projects. Then you have a single Space with multiple Sections, one for each project. Tasks can be freely moved between Sections when making a comment, just like any other field on a Task.

However, if your idea of a "project" also includes, for example, documents and a calendar, rather then just Tasks - you could create a Space to represent each project. This made much easier by using "Space Blueprints" which contain all the Sections you need, and then you get that as an option when you go to the "Create sub-space" page.

I hope that helps!

sub-spaces

We manage 400 or more mini projects per year, so it is not practical to create a new section or sub-space for each. Our requirement is that each project needs to be associated with more than one task. Each project is not large enough to warrant using a more powerful project management tool. Do you know of someone integrating drupal PM into open atrium 2? We do like the fact that open atrium 2 allows for multiple spaces. If open atrium could have a PM section type for each space then open atrium would be golden. Some of our spaces do not require project management at all, but those who do will not be able to get by with task or work tracker. If only some bright person would create a feature which adds a new project management section type. I am too new to drupal to attempt this at this time.

Hrm. I'm not sure I understand.

Hrm. I'm not sure I understand. Both Sections and Spaces are just nodes, like Project was in OA1. So, they're not any "heavier" than a Project would be. And they are much more powerful, in that you can create Section Types and Space Blueprints so you don't need to configure them each time, you can just reuse the "Project" type (whether that's a Section or Space type) that you've already pre-configured.

Sorry if I misunderstood your comment! But I hope this helps. :-)

project management with OA2

We have customized Open Atrium and are using it as a project management system. Integrating Drupal PM didn't work for us. We use a project section type and have content types for project, task, ticket, and work log. One project can have many tasks, each task can have many tickets, and each work ticket has many work logs. All of this was developed before work tracker was part of Open Atrium, so it doesn't integrate with the work tracker that now comes with Open Atrium. If you have specific questions or want some advice, I can try to help.

Potassiumcholride,
Is it possible you could share specific info on how you created and use the project section type with task, ticket, and worklog? You can post here or contact me directly.
I tried sending a direct email but I don't think it got through.

Hi LoganGuy,
I wrote you back but apparently it didn't make it to you for some reason. Here's that message:

Here's a link to a comment that outlines a few more details about how we built the basics of the system: https://groups.drupal.org/node/343383#comment-977248.

In addition to those content types, we did create a section type called "project management section" and by default that type of section aggregates information from the project, task, ticket, work log, and purchase content types.

You can clone an OA section at admin/openatrium/section-templates. Then, change the settings/layout/content to suit your needs.

Then, you can add your new section to the section options that a user will see. Go to admin/structure/taxonomy/section_type and add a section type (for us it is "project management section"). In "Section Layout" choose the section you created above. Select the types of nodes that a user will be able to create when in this section; this part of the form controls the + button that users see up in the navigation when they are inside your new section.

Please let me know if you have more questions, and I will do my best to help.
