Our monthly Providence Drupal Meetup is coming up! We'll be at Founders' League (95 Chestnut St, one floor up from Betaspring, Providence, RI), kicking back with food and drink in their very cool office space. Parking is free on and off street (starts at 5 pm). Doors open at 6pm.

In September's meetup, we discussed the overall build of an example Drupal application.  The discussion around this was great, and covered off on many basic Drupal functionalities that are used to build content correctly and effectively.   This was effedtively the Mentoring Mixer that was discussed for last month's meetup, and it was a great Q&A that led to a basic project scoping.

This month, the general format goes something like this:

6-7pm Mentoring Mixer Hour: Come in, bring your laptop, bring your questions or just your willingness to help a fellow community member. There’s almost always someone who’s encountered whatever has stumped you - and next time it might be you who lends a hand!

7pm DrupalPVD Updates: Drupal News & Upcoming Events, followed by a short (1/2hr) presentation by John Picozzi on the newly-announced Drupal 8 Beta 1(!!!) followed by Q&A.

Why is a beta so important?

  • It provides a stable upgrade path between versions
  • It allows back-end developers to get familiar with the new Object Oriented PHP code it's built on
  • It allows front-end developers to get familiar with the new Twig theme engine
  • It allows module developers to get D8 versions out

7:45(ish) Mixer Outcomes: A chance for people to share what they learned. If you solved a touch challenge or found a new way of doing a tricky task, share with the group so we can all learn with you!

Have something that’s stumping you? Let us know any time and we can be sure to help connect you with someone who can help, or even make it the topic for the presentation!

Please RSVP  on our DrupalPVD Meetup.com page!
