Meeting summary

Good meetup, nice to see everyone as always.

Quick summary of the meeting:

  1. Saul did a presentation on "Docker 101 & how to run multiple Drupal environments with ease" slide are at: http://dev.plexitynet.com/slides/docker-101/ - Docker's the future, get of board!
  2. Jaymie mentioned https://github.com/newrelic/centurion as a deployment tool for Docker. The whole Docker orchestration space is really dynamic, just look at the number of deployment themed talks at from dockercon14 http://www.dockercon.com/ - Docker themselves are pouring resources into it too, watch this space!
  3. Ger spoke about HbbTV and his work with getting it setup here in Aus - if there's anyone interested in providing Drupal integration get in touch with him. Overview at: http://www.hbbtv-symposiumeurope2014.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/1-1-...
  4. Jaymie talked about the very impressive tutorial videos at https://egghead.io/ - he's got our group a signup link with a discount, just reach out if you want the link.
  5. Miles spoke of how he's setup https://mandrillapp.com/ directly via Postfix integration so all messages from his server send via Mandrill. It's an interesting alternative to https://www.drupal.org/project/mandrill - one consideration when bypassing the Drupal module is https://www.drupal.org/node/1808846 - it's not quite as I said it was during the meeting, but as Mandrill logs all mail it also logs password reset email and this is a security issue, but only if someone gains access to your Mandrill account. The Drupal module ensures password reset emails aren't logged so gets around this, but if you're fine with the security of your Mandrill account then that should null and void this security issue.
  6. We all reminisced about https://www.drupal.org/SA-CORE-2014-005 and how it effected us all. If you've not updated stop and do it now! I have to say it's quite shocking how critical security releases like this are getting missed by many members of our community, I've heard the same stories here in Chile. Do yourself a massive favour and go and sign up for the security mailing list (if you've not already) at https://www.drupal.org/security and set aside Thursday morning (Aus time) to go through the weekly security releases and apply them where needed (take special note of Critical (or Highly Critical as 005 was)).

See everyone next month.
