Organizers for the Ottawa Drupal Group

Hello,

I have recently been asked, as administrator of the Ottawa Drupal Group, to add administrators. I will gladly do so, especially since I have moved to Montreal a few years ago and I am practically not involved anymore in the drupal community.

If you are interested in becoming an organizer for the Ottawa Drupal Group, could you please add a comment under this post:

briefly introducing yourself and your company / organization
stating why you are interested in becoming an organizer
describing what you offer to do an as organizer

Any suggestions and recommendations in terms of what should be the total number of organizers is welcome.

Ideally I suppose we would have at least two or three group organizers. I am happy to help as needed.

Hi my name is Jon O'Sullivan I am an Account Executive with OPIN Software. Currently OPIN hosts the monthly DrupalYOW Meetups and I am the organizer. As such I've also created the DrupalYOW Linkedin group so that attendees can share events and professional requirements. I would love to see our community continue to grow and share both ideas and opportunities so that this technology can garnish the awareness it deserves in Ottawa. My colleague Pat Gilbert is also interested in seeing this group grow as he is President of the Ottawa Drupal Association and one of the organizers for Drupal Camp. Having all of these groups and associations begin to collaborate more is crucial in order for the community to thrive. In addition I would welcome several other administrators from the community to share in this responsibility.

Jon, you clearly answered my questions and have already organized several drupal events in Ottawa. I'll promote you admin.

Peter, if I did not know your profile I would have not promoted you admin because you did not answer my questions!! ;) ...but I think you will be an excellent addition to the organizers given you profile.

We are extremely active in the Drupal.org global community having provided support in many formats over the years: maintainer of numerous d.o projects, submitted patches to most of the major contributed projects, helping other developers on irc and in project issue queues with over 1000 posts to d.o, platinum sponsor and double presenter at first Ottawa drupalcamp, etc... we would very much like to continue this level of support and participation with this group. :)

Can admins go to list view and add more admins?

Hi Mike,
I saw the tweet asking for help here. Can admins go to the members list here and in list view add more admins? Or does that not work?

Hi Mike

I don't mind staying, I just do not know how to transfer the ownership of the group to someone else, at the time I had looked into it, and the furthest I could figure out is that I needed to have this done by a "site administrator", but I was unsuccessful in getting through to one of them, and I stopped there.

Since it does not really bother me and the group admins I let it go...

Now I am trying to remember how to add admins! :-/

Hey Pat,
If you click on the 372 members in the sidebar and then change the view to List view, can you access the "Admin: create" links? If so, you are all set to add admins.

I know there are changes being made to Groups, and the add admin seems to have gone away since I added in the DrupalYOW folks a couple of years ago.

Being an admin doesn't really confer any power (other than being able to add more admins or accept join requests). The group is set up to accept any membership requests automatically, so we don't need to do that.

Anyone who has signed up can create events (and manage their own events) and start conversations.
