Hi Will et al, (please also see the created issue)
With respect to the concern about the health of this project, I have had a conversation with Will White about taking the reins and becoming a maintainer.
Will's excellent work on the project, and the work of the active community surrounding the project, have produced some great code and some really good features for Drupal sites. Unfortunately sometimes outside responsibilities call and things remain idle.
I know that a lot of you have ideas so I will be collating issues and some of the workarounds that people have created with a view to forming a kind of roadmap for 2.x and beyond. If you have a particular idea, please feel free to discuss it in the group.
Anyway, if anybody has issues or concerns about this change please speak now or forever hold your peace :-)
Thanks all. I look forward to getting the project back on the road.

Great News
This is great news!!! I am looking forward to the recommencement of active development of this project. Many thanks for volunteering to take the reins. I am not the greatest php coder but I am willing to help in anyway you may need help on this project. Which includes the roadmap and helping to clear up the huge issue queue.
Thanks frazras!
It will take me some time to absorb the issue queue and there are a lot of things to think about before I can establish a course of action. But I really appreciate the offer of help - I just might take you up on that!
Here to help
Good luck with the new responsibility.
I hope to help wherever needed. Feel free to contact me and deligate some tasks, and hopefully I will be able to give a hand.
Regards,
Shushu

Can't really help with maintaining things, but happy to test as and when needed.
Help where I can...
I'm a neophyte PHP programmer, but I'll help where I can.
