You are an open source website developer and systems administrator with several years of experience and a passion for working in the nonprofit sector.
You like to play in the intersection of website development and operations. You like to build tools that make developers more efficient and productive. You can follow agile methods to plan and do your work, in a team and on your own. As an effective team member, you can work with others to resolve application and system issues. You can balance work on multiple projects at the same time.
You want to continuously learn and apply your growing management and technical skills to helping great organizations make the world a better place.

Qualifications
We are looking for someone with open source development and systems administration experience who can coordinate our efforts to improve our website development and operations.
Key expertise
Linux Systems Administration
Monitor websites to ensure they are performant and secure
Optimize website performance for the entire LAMP stack including enhancements like caching, content delivery networks, and server configuration tweaking
Address security vulnerabilities like Heartbleed, Shellshock, POODLE, and Drupalgeddon
Troubleshoot and resolve various technical issues like those related to DNS, email delivery, and file/folder ownership and permissions
Project management
Manage projects using lean and agile project management principles
Coordinate development and operations to resolve application and system performance and security issues
Platform Development
Design and configure performance monitoring systems using tools like Nagios, New Relic, and Loggly
Improve software development workflow for development, staging, and production environments including tools like Beanstalk, Drush, and custom scripts
Define and implement new features that continuously evolve a mission-critical hosting platform, including using hosting automation solutions like Parallels Plesk Automation and distributed application platforms like Docker
Implement automation tools like Chef, Puppet, and custom scripts
Additional expertise
Technical
Write and test using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
Administer MySQL databases and write SQL queries
Work with version control including tools like Git and Beanstalk
Use web control panels like Plesk and cPanel
Write and maintain clear documentation to explain what you have done
Website Development
Familiar with open source content management systems like Drupal and WordPress
Familiar with open source constituent relationship management systems like CiviCRM and SugarCRM
Familiar with other open source software solutions relevant to meeting the needs of nonprofit organizations
General
Work or volunteer experience with nonprofits, and passionate about what they do
Committed to free and open source software
Work on a distributed virtual team with minimal direct, face-to-face interaction with co-workers and clients
Work from home in a dedicated workspace using your own computer and a fast and reliable internet connection
Track time spent at work on projects
Creative, resourceful, and entrepreneurial
Self-motivated and driven to exceed project goals and client expectations
Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Client service
Provide excellent client service
Convey technical information to non-technical people
Offer a calm, comfortable demeanor when dealing with clients
Prior consulting experience preferred
While you certainly do not have to already know how to do everything, we are looking for a strong contribution to the team that will enable us to re-balance our current roles and responsibilities so we can be a more focused and effective team. We do not have a particular kind of person in mind; we are looking for someone with the right fit, who has the technical expertise and nonprofit orientation that this position demands.
Compensation
This is a full-time position (32 or 40 hours per week) with a three month probationary period. Salary is commensurate with experience and includes three weeks of paid vacation. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and human resource programs.
