Join us next Wednesday, April 8th for a diverse round of Lightning Talks. This meetup is hosted at the Metal Toad offices downtown at 522 SW 5th Ave Suite 400. Come at 6pm, eat some pizza, socialize, and we'll get the talks started around 6:30.

A lightning talk is the "quick and dirty" presentation of a concept in 5 minutes or less. It gets right to the point and holds no punches! If you feel so inclined, talk about anything Drupal related -- development, your toolbox, management, or about a project you were involved with -- no holds barred. Just keep it to 5 minutes.

Once again this month, Jet Brains is sponsoring the giveaway of a single PhpStorm license. Show up to participate in the raffle.

I can't wait for the lightning talks tomorrow evening! Pick the smallest feature or trick you've come across, and see if you can explain it in 5 minutes or less. Some ideas that come to mind:

  • Summarize a blog post that you liked and/or learned from
  • How about an example of how to pass an argument to a Views Content Pane via the Page Manager "context"
  • Show off some work you are proud of, like how you configured a podcast feed using the views_rss_itunes module, or your ninja css/js skills making an awesome slideshow
  • Introduce us to a cool module and tell us what it does
  • ex: The context_condition_theme module lets you set a condition depending upon active theme

I've got dibs on showing off a super cool feature-rich Media 7.x-2.x setup, complete with drag-n-drop multi-file uploads and hierarchical categorization/searching of files, as well as a button to add files via WYSIWYG.
