Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Only two weeks left to register, don't wait until the last minute: http://2015.tcdrupal.org

I think it's time to update everyone on the progress of Drupal Camp preparation. Many people (many of them on the planning committee) are suggesting that this MIGHT be the best Drupal Camp ever. Why you ask?

1) Two Great Keynotes:

"Building a Ravenously Passionate Community"
Angie Byron (webchick)
Director, Community Development at Acquia

"Creating a Culture of Empowerment"
Todd Nienkirk (todd-nienkerk)
Digital Strategist and Partner at Four Kitchens

2) 35 Excellent sessions for all skills levels and areas of interest. Including:

  • Career Opportunities in Drupal
  • Automated testing in Drupal with Behat
  • Case Study: Large-Scale, Server Side Mapping with the Leaflet-Geocluster Stack
  • Introduction to Web Accessiblity
  • Introducing Backdrop CMS
  • Live, breathe, and feel your Drupal business. Experiential thoughts on running and working for a Drupal company.
  • Teaching Kids to Code
  • The Future of the CMS
  • Headless Drupal Architecture Patterns
  • Battle for the body field - lessons from the frontlines of audience engagement
  • Welcome to Drupal!
  • See full list: http://2015.tcdrupal.org/sessions

3) An awesome Friday Night Party hosted by Advantage Labs. Last year we had yard games, lightning talks, home baked brick oven pizza, and a crazy guy juggling fire! (Check out the photos: https://www.flickr.com/photos/tcdrupal )
We're also planning a great party on Saturday evening (all for the price of registration).

5) A usability study for Drupal 8. We have several core maintainers and usability experts coming from across the country and from Europe to help us figure out how to make Drupal 8 easier to use. We're partnering with the University of Minnesota for this important study.

6) 4 days of sprint opportunities. Including the kickoff for an effort to create a new Drupal 8 User Guide. This will be a great chance to give back to the Drupal community, while learning about Drupal 8.

7) Lots of smart, fun, and engaging folks from the Drupal Community. Take a look at who has signed up already (and add your name to the list).

Crazy Guy Juggling Fire:

We Need Help Promoting Camp

stpaultim's picture

Registrations are coming in nicely, but we are just a little behind where we hoped to be 2 weeks before camp!

Please help us get the word out, so that everyone in our circles knows about Drupal Camp and at least has the opportunity to participate. Here are a few ideas how you can help:

1) Do you work with anyone that might be interested in camp. Make sure they know it's happening.

2) Share a reminder about camp on your Facebook Page, Twitter Account, or on Google+.

3) Are you a member of an email list, user groups, or political party that might be interested in Drupal Camp. Please, share the announcement.

4) Do you have ideas on what we should be doing to better get the word out about Drupal Camp, share your ideas here.

5) Make a card board sign promoting Drupal Camp and walk up and down the street wearing it.

Planning for camp is going really well. We have a great selection of sessions, some powerful keynote speakers, free training, and lots of time for sprinting (contributing to Drupal). Volunteers have put in hundreds of hours preparing for this years camp.

Registration is going very good, but not QUITE good enough. At our current rate, we may fall slightly short of last years totals. We'd like to get at least another 30 registrations this week. Please, help spread the word. If everyone that reads this message posts at least one reminder on social media, we'll probably do very well!

If you have not registered yourself, do it NOW!

But it doesn't really look like I'm going to be able to make the Drupal camp this year. It somehow is ALWAYS the same date as one of my board meetings for Menomonie Market Food Co-op-- http://mmfc.coop , so it's usually the meeting I miss every year - but this year we're OPENING A BIG NEW STORE!!!! - and there's just WAY too much going on this weekend in preparation. Have fun everyone but I just can't make this one.
