Hi, I'm looking to go travelling and spend a year in New Zealand on WHV. I hope to pick up some contract work whilst in Auckland and Wellington, but I'm not so sure that there is a lot out there for a mid/senior level developer.

Can anyone give me an idea what the job market is like? Is there much out there, it seems not...

I also have experience in DevOps processes, like Ansible, Jenkins, Docker, Architecture etc, but I am lacking in experience compared to my Drupal knowledge, so I'm not sure if I could go for a fully fledged DevOps role.

Thanks

From my perspective, there's plenty of work out there. Send your CV to http://catalyst.net.nz/jobs

Also, have a look at PHP UG (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/nzphpug), look at meetup.com for Wellington & Auckland. Larger companies like Vend, Xero etc. are often looking for people. http://2015.phpconference.org.nz/ could be a good place to meet people also.

Thanks for asking this, michaelmallett.

I'll be flying to Auckland this coming July 20th on a Job Search Visa. Good luck to both of us.

The Drupal sector here is actually pretty big (for a tiny country) and appears to continue growing year by year.

It all depends on how skilled and experienced you are, but there is definitely room for a senior developer here in Wellington. These positions get frequently advertised at the Drupal Meetups once a month, which my company organises.

When you come to Wellington, it will be mandatory that you come to a meetup, and that you and I grab a coffee :)

Further to the other comments though, it's true that Catalyst and Sparks are probably your best options for employment.

ditto with japo32, thanks for asking this michaelmallett.

I'm also planning to move to New Zealand hopefully by next year, and hopefully can bring my family as well to there.

I heard about the Drupal Community there that I believed quite big, so that putting my interest to go there and wanna get involve in there too.

I'm consider my self as a Senior Drupal Developer and currently stays in Singapore, and at the moment also looking around for job vacancy in NZ.

So I guess good luck to all of us here that looking for some job :)
Thanks all.
