Come out to the ThinkShout offices (433 NW 4th Ave, Suite 100) for the July Drupal user group meetup. Again, this month, we have another double-header:
Amber Matz (Amber Himes Matz on d.o) will demonstrate some accessibility testing tools you may have been meaning to try or maybe haven't heard of yet. Tota11y (http://khan.github.io/tota11y/) is an educational accessibility auditing tool that not only catches errors and warnings (as well as successes), but through a helpful interface, teaches you how to improve your site to make it more accessible. VoiceOver (http://www.apple.com/accessibility/osx/voiceover/) is an OS X accessibility application that allows you to control your computer without needing to see the screen. It provides an enhanced keyboard navigation interface as well as telling you what is on the screen and how to interact with it. She'll wrap up with where to find more resources and information about web accessibility guidelines, tools, and helpers. This is a condensed version of her talk at Devsigner: http://www.devsignercon.com/conference/sessions/test-your-fancy-pants-we...
Samuel Mortenson will be presenting Lightning, one of Acquia's Drupal 7 distributions, and Demo Framework, which is built on top of Lightning to provide example Drupal sites to potential clients. If there is enough time after the Demo, he'll talk briefly about what it's like to maintain a distribution and why distributions are important to the Drupal community.
When you come out next Wednesday, take a moment to thank ThinkShout, who is generously donating their offices, as well as pizza and refreshments! Come at 6pm, eat some pizza, socialize, and we'll get the talks started around 6:30. After the talks, we'll have announcements and raffle off a PHPStorm license, as well as some neat SWAG from O'Reily. See you there!
