This will be my first Drupal Summit. Can anyone provide a summary of what I should bring to the coding events; and how should my MacBook be configured; Drupal core or Acquia desktop?
Thanks

You need some kind of
You need some kind of development environment, preferrably with drupal installed. I recommend having:
As for whether you can use Acquia development desktop... i'm not sure. You need to be able to check out Drupal via git, so I'm not sure that would work there.
Code sprints usually have people to help you get your environment figured out, but it's better if you have it all set up in advance.
See you there.
RE: Dev Desktop
Hey Dave,
Dev Desktop does come bundled with GIT and Drush so makes it pretty easy to be setup.
If you have the git repo address it is easy enough to checkout a code base and then add it locally to the DD interface and be up and goin.
Also works on MAC and Windows.
Good to hear
Glad to hear it. Aqcuia dev desktop should be fine then. I just don't have much experience with it.
This will be my first time
This will be my first time going as well. Don't think my agency is springing for a hotel room, so I'll probably miss the Friday sprints.
Should we bring laptops on Saturday/Sunday, or just notebooks? Not sure how interactive the sessions are, or whether power will be readily accessible.
Thanks!
Laptops Optional
This gets quickly into a matter of personal preference. Laptops are definitely optional equipment. I like going with mine because sometimes I like to try stuff out live, but most who attend sessions do not have their laptops open if they bring them at all.
Most sessions are standard presentation form, where you are watching presenters present, and not doing hands on work. So you'll be fine if you prefer to just take notes.
Code Sprints
I haven't yet received confirmation about whether mentored code sprints are in fact happening at the summit this year. I'm working on the details and will report back here when I find stuff out.

Sounds like they will happen
Sounds like they will happen but no firm details yet. Code Sprints
Yes.
I will be sprinting Friday afternoon if anyone wants to join.
Code Sprints
Highly recommend Kalabox (v2) rather than either native LAMP or Acquia Desktop. Installs in VM, designed to interface seamlessly with Pantheon or Acquia systems, works very well. Runs on Mac, Windows or Linux (v1 was Mac only).

Code sprints
Can I get a count from the group about how many might attend friday sprints? They are willing to staff up if there is critical mass, but it would be helpful to know.
