User group meeting

Join us next Wednesday (9/9) for the September user group at the offices of Phase2.

This month Greg Boggs will be talking about the RedHen Raiser distribution by ThinkShout. From it's product page:

This distribution is for building peer-to-peer fundraising websites, such as those around marathons and walks, where a fundraising campaign is made up of myriad individual and team pages which are customized by the individual participants for fundraising amongst their respective communities, but connected to the larger campaign.

Our other speaker this month is Jakob Perry, a long time Drupal contributor who currently works at the Drupal Association. Jakob will talk about the issues around IRC, and what the community is doing to improve communication tools.

This month the meetup is at the Phase2 offices at 514 NW 11th Ave. Get here at 6pm, and the talks begin around 6:30. Pizza is sponsored by Acquia this month.

For those who receive email notifications from comments, I've updated tonight's event to include Jakob's talk about the current state of IRC as a means of communication and what the future may hold.

There were tons of great

There were tons of great questions about RedHen and Raiser tonight. If you'd like try the demos I was using, you can download the RedHen Demo: https://www.drupal.org/project/redhen_demo, or you can spin up a Raiser site for free on Pantheon with a few clicks: https://dashboard.pantheon.io/products/redhen_raiser/spinup

Recording or notes from the meetup?

I don't suppose there's a recording or notes pertaining to the RedHen Raiser presentation? I'm currently evaluating as a potential platform for crowdfunding open source projects and was hoping to get thoughts on if that was viable.

Think it will work

Thanks Sean! It's a slightly different use case, but I think RedHen Raiser as a platform for peer-peer-OSS crowdfunding could be very interesting. Maybe will even get me out to a local meetup to collaborate in person!

Thanks Jesse, Greg, Jakob, and Everyone

My friends and I really enjoyed attending last night. It was great meeting everyone. I come from an Oracle background and am new to Drupal. I was impressed with the level of commitment and knowledge that was in the room last night. In my world it's pretty rare to be able to talk to the folks who actually created the product. It was great. I enjoyed the presentations.

I look forward to attending future events.

Best,

Glenn Miller
