Voting for the Drupal Association South Africa (DASA) governing board is now open, here:
From today, Wednesday the 9th of September 2015 until midnight Wednesday the 21st of October (SAST) voting is open.
Vote right here in this thread.

- Riaan (Chairman) will audit and publish the results.
Candidates' are:

I am Renate Ehlers, a 29 year old qualified chef and started my career as web-designer and -developer in 2014. I work for a company that has been designing websites commercially since 2001. As we have had more requests to build sites using a CMS, my search began to find a comprehensive system that has a good balance between functionality and design-ability. We chose to use Drupal as it ticked all the boxes. We decided that the steep learning curve was merely an obstacle to overcome. If we want to use a CMS we would use the best there is. The Drupal community has been inviting and kind and I am proud to be part of it. I would like to contribute my time to this wonderful initiative for the next term with the aim to open the world of Drupal to as many South Africans as possible.

I'm Greg, an Entrepreneur/Business Owner and Senior Drupal Developer. I've worked with Drupal since 2006 and built projects for South Africa's corporate businesses and NGO's. As an avid believer in FOSS, I joined the Drupal Association South Africa as Chairman in 2013. In 2014 I was voted into the Board of DASA and represented the Chairman role. As of 2015, I've been the secretary of DASA. I'm interested in promoting the use of Drupal to the web industry in South Africa as a primary goal of mine, and I hope to build a local community over as many geographic areas as possible. In 2016, I hope to help organise the DrupalJHB Camp, attend and speak meet-ups where possible, and lend my services to the DrupalCapeTown Camp where possible.
-
I'm Riaan, 41-year-old ex teacher, lecturer, nightclubs owner, small business owner and free (libre) software and community advocate. Started using Drupal in version 4 having built own CMSes and tried several others before and switched exclusively to Drupal until the last few years revealed so many great front- and back-end frameworks to compliment Drupal. I hope to continue to contribute to building a local South African Drupal association with national value for all local Drupal users.

Sergio Henriques (Journosergio)
Hi, I’m Sergio Henriques, a 31-year-old developer at Rogerwilco. Having come from journalism, I started out at Rogerwilco nearly 4 years ago as a writer and quickly moved into content management. With no experience in coding or building sites, my interest to in all things tech-related saw me move into the ranks of a developer which has been a very interesting and challenging journey! My dream is to be a part of the pioneers that transform South Africa’s digital landscape and using Drupal to achieve that.
-
Hi, I'm Jason Lewis, interaction designer and partner at Amazee Labs Cape Town. I manage our local user-group meetups and am part of the DrupalCamp Cape Town organising committee. I'm very excited about continuing to market and grow Drupal adoption, both provincially and nationally with DASA, drawing on my experience in design, branding and marketing.
-
I'm Johan du Bois, technology manager at e-Government for Citizens (Western Cape Government), where Drupal helps us simplify access to government for every citizen. I helped organise DrupalCamp Cape Town and serve on the 2014/15 DASA board. I look forward to more hard work in 2015/16 as we continue to build a strong and visible South African Drupal Association that embodies our shared values of openness, collaboration, and giving back to the community. Let's continue to build it together.

George Ziady (Gomez_in_the_South)
My name is George Ziady, I've been involved with Drupal since 2008 and have been involved with the communities in Joburg and Singapore. I've always enjoyed sharing knowledge with my fellow members at the monthly meetups and look forward to helping to foster a positive community here in South Africa.

I'm Inky Talbot, a designer and creator with a passion for creating useful and beautiful Drupal websites. I have been working independently since 2003, starting out as a 3D Architectural Artist, before moving into web development in 2009. Being self-taught in Drupal and web (HTML, CSS, SASS, JS, PHP, etc.), it was the Drupal Community in Cape Town that kept me going. I am keen to give back and help grow the community, so that we can all benefit and learn from each other.
We haven't received some profiles just yet, so will update the above as soon as we do.

My Vote
My Vote:
Normally I'd put myself first, I do intend to give my best ;-) But this year, Jason really blew me away!
Making some space for the new guys while also recognising the work of the past. I'm also sure I'll get to know the newest people better over the next year, maybe vote that direction next.
Awesome candidates all around this year!

Quick reminder, voting closes 21 October
Hello Everyone,
Just wanted to post a quick reminder that voting closes on the 21st of October.
We've seen a good turnout so far for voting, but I'm sure we can do better. If you haven't yet voted or know some who did not, please do vote and let them know to vote as well.
DASA is nothing but a vested interest if nobody votes; We're well past that, but it is much more legitimate if more people vote. Participation also encourages the volunteers that participate in DASA. It's very much appreciated!
Kind regards,
Riaan

FSM ;-)
Hey scheepers,
FSM hey ;-) Funny. But we have to be so clear because we're managing this very openly, two people tally and one moderates and it's not sure at all this won't come out as a spoiled vote. Perhaps just clarify in a quick reply if you don't mind (pick only from the list of candidates and not including omniscient beings).
Cheers,
Riaan
Ok Ok... Omit the FSM. I
Ok Ok... Omit the FSM. I heard (s)he declined anyhow :P
Last Call
Hello Everyone,
Thank you very much for the great turnout! Today before midnight is the last time to vote. We have a close call and may end up with a tie, which is incredible considering the voting method and good turnout, so if you know of anyone that still didn't vote, please do remind them to do so.
Kind regards,
Riaan
Tomorrow night
Oops, it would appear I'm a day early with this one. Renate just notified me that voting ends midnight tomorrow night, not tonight ;-)

Thank You!
Hello Everyone,
Today I received the last tally and we verified the votes. Thank you very much to everyone who voted.
The results and a bit of a description of why we vote like this on Groups.Drupal.org and not using a Drupal site or service are available here:
