Drupal8 - any Australian sites in the wild?

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

So, Dries, our fearless leader says the time to start building D8 sites is now!

I know there are already a bunch of simple D8 sites out there "in the wild" so to speak. But has anyone built one for themselves or an Australian client yet?

Shall we start an aussie/nz showcase list?

Speaking of Drupal8, while I'm here...

The Drupal Association launched a fundraising campaign to accelerate the release of Drupal8. The association committed $62,500 to directly fund work that would unblock critical issues holding us back. Members of the board also personally committed to match that funding through anchor donations. Huge thanks to Acquia, Appnovation, DrupaliseMe, Phase2, PreviousNext, Palantir & Wunderkraut for that support - support over and above their already generous involvement as contributors and supporting partners and sponsors.

I personally wasn't in a position to make that kind of commitment, so I decide to try to raise funds through the uniquely australian idea of a "chookraffle". Everyone at the DA thought that was a bit crazy - but they did like the idea of crowdfunding.

So they asked the community to "match" those funds. Our goal was to raise US$250,000 by DrupalCon Barcelona. We are nearly there!

If you can, please chip in, and help us get across the line.

Many of you have already chipped in, and I am hugely grateful for that support.
A special thank you mention to Linux Australia, OSDC, Sparks Interactive and WeaveWeb for their very generous contributions. But my gratitude extends equally to everyone, too many to list here, for their help in this.

I hoped to raise 8% of the funding goal - that's $20,000.

My tally stands at $12,780.

There's $7220 left to reach my goal. Please, if you can, buy a ticket for my chook raffle :)

Work's already started on aGov 8, with an initial release on Drupal.org planned for late 2015. Updates will be available at https://www.drupal.org/project/agov

We've got a Drupal 8 site in

We've got a Drupal 8 site in the wild currently in alpha. It's a private web app rather than a public website so nothing I can share I'm afraid. We took the plunge in January which was painful and rewarding at the same time. The front end is completely de-coupled using the built in REST framework for entities and Views. I love Drupal 8! So pretty, very fast, love CMI, so all in one. We've written a small number of tiny custom modules. Here is our list of contrib modules!

Many Busy Hands

I've started my first D8 project, Many Busy Hands, a job listing website. It's due for release in about 5 months, which should hopefully be long enough for the final critical issues to be patched and D8 reaches release candidate phase (currently 6 issues to go!). Looking forward to launch mid 2016. :)

Thanks so much for the contributions @bagz and @darvanen! I'm really grateful for your support!

And great to hear that D8 is out of the starting blocks for aGov, for a web app(!!) and for a job site.

I've been playing with it mostly just in testing patches, and doing a couple of demo talks - showing what you can do out of the box.

From my perspective, not having to do all that wysiwyg jiggery pokery is such a big win!

If anyone's interested in seeing some of the effort behind the scenes to get D8 so much closer to release, and the D8accelerate funding in action, check this out:
