Hi,
I just wanted to update you all on the latest news regarding the design and branding for DrupalCon Dublin 2016.
The first time I saw the holding page design was the day after it went live and immediately emailed the Drupal Association to voice some concerns in relation to it. Since then we've had calls with them to give detailed feedback, and also asked if we could get Conor involved in the design process.
The Drupal Association have been very understanding and have listened and taken our feedback on board. They've launched a new holding page at https://events.drupal.org/dublin2016/ with some quick wins on the branding front.
The next stage is to have further discussion with the Drupal Association and we're asking for anyone who would like to be an active participant in the design process to get in touch.
Cheers,
Stella

Good to see
Hi Stella,
thanks for passing on my concerns with the previous holding page design to the Association, and for facilitating the hangout discussion. It's good to see changes were made by the designer as soon as they could

There's certainly a precedent for the styling of the European DrupalCons to feature visual references to the host city:
If this is continuing, it would be interesting to get ideas on how Dublin could be presented to welcome people here from near and far.

New Branding
Would be delighted to be given the opportunity to provide input into the design process.
An event of this scale and calibre will have its branding everywhere - on the website, clothing, signage, presentations, lanyards, to name a few. It's essential new branding is designed with the involvement of the local community to match or exceed the quality of previous European DrupalCons.

Conference dates not accessible.
The current holding page does not have the conference dates in an accessible format. I appreciate that the holding page will be replaced by a full site, but for the time being "dates-for-your-diary" is the single most important function, and to have an inclusive conference we should correct this.
The dates are all contained in an image, which has alt=home (probably a default text from the page template in COD). The easiest way to fix it is to make the alt attribute reflect the text from the image:
