Held in Boston (note special November host location!)

We will be hosted in November 2015 by Genuine, a full-service digital agency located at 500 Harrison Ave. 5R, Boston, MA 02118.

Themed Lightning Talks

This month we’re trying something new – a theme! Not like a dress-up theme, a lightning talk theme.

With the recent drop of the Drupal 8 RC1, we’ll have talks centered around “One thing I have learned and love (or hate) about Drupal 8”.* Volunteers will get up to 5 - 10 minutes to present their lightning talk on this theme.

After our themed presentations, we’ll have a general call for volunteers. Each volunteer will get up to 5-10 minutes to ask questions of the group, present their recent Drupal work, or lead other Drupal discussions. This is an open floor - that means no preparation is required (for all you procrastinators out there).

  • Sign up for a 5 to 10 minute lightning talk by leaving a comment about your topic below.

* Extra points for rhyming

Parking and Transportation

Genuine's offices are train accessible via the Broadway T stop on the Red Line, Tufts Medical on the Orange Line and East Berkley st @ Washington st on the Silver Line. On-street parking (free/metered) may be available nearby, including Harrison Ave, Randolph Street and Paul Sullivan Way. Parking lots are also available for $20 per car.

Dinner and Drinks

During the meetup, pizza, salad, and drinks will be generously sponsored by Genuine. Please RSVP via this posting's Sign up button below so we have a proper headcount.

After the meetup, we can continue the discussions at the nearby pub J.J. Foleys

Sponsors/Feature Guests Wanted

If you would like to sponsor future dinners or meet-up locations, please reach out to organizers. You will be recognized at the meeting, given the chance to do a featured talk for 15 min., and promoted to our Boston list of over 1500 subscribers.

Drupal 8 Big Pipe

krlucas's picture

I've been following the effort to get Big Pipe in D8 core and can do a lightning presentation on it and the surrounding technologies.

In addition to presenting what we like or don't like about Drupal 8, it'd be great if we also encouraged people to present on any aspect of Drupal 8 they think might be helpful to others. For example, I'd love if someone could present on the enterprise functionality in Drupal 8. I don't have a clear idea of what this involves, yet I feel it has potential relevance to academic web development and I'd love to know more about it.

Thanks to Genuine for hosting and Mike for organizing.

I'd like to present briefly

I'd like to present briefly on something I have learned and hate about Drupal 8. How you cannot use breakpoints and xdebug to debug Twig templates.

EXPLODING DISCOVERY PHASE
discovery phase uncovered the need to interface with a web service soap implementation from a 3rd party vendor. All data resides in external system; what is best way to perform CRUD / login functions efficiently?
