HI Ken,
Well it is a matter of convenience. We do not really have a place to have a launch party in the SGV. They have been able to get a meeting location find some sponsors. It happens to be on the same date as we normally meet in November, so it was organize something our selves or get on the road.
Our tie-in with Fuller seems to have run it's course, people get busy so if you have any ideas and want to help let me know.

Our first choice for the D8 release party was at Opodz in Little Tokyo, but unfortunately it didn't work out for this event. :(
We'll gladly have events in the San Gabriel Valley when suitable venues that check all the boxes become available. (Some of the checkboxes are a meetup-appropriate office space or theater, good parking, freeway access, proximity to a good pub or restaurant, etc.)

Hi,
Some of the sponsors for the D8 launch party are continuing the spirit on Friday the 20th, with a BuildaModule.com mentor training in the same locationhttp://www.meetup.com/ladrupal/events/226842089/.
I have been to a couple of these trainings, great time for low pressure focus on learning from the videos with mentors to help when you get stuck.
It's free but registration is required. RSVP on Meetup to make a $20 donation to Greater Los Angeles Drupal, or click through and RSVP for free on Eventbrite.

I'll be there! See you there,
I'll be there! See you there, Paul :)
Et tu, Paul?
Now that "Greater LA" Drupal seems to be stuck West of the 405, are you moving the San Gabriel Valley there as well?
You know MOST of Greater Los Angeles and ALL of the San Gabriel Valley is East of the 405.
Ya I know
