This group needs wings!

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

I am looking to get the Ann Arbor Drupal Users group off the ground. It is clear to me now that Ann Arbor does have enough Drupal programmers to warrant a group of its own. I was especially happy to hear about Drupal being taught at UMich. But...the group is in need of a few things to make it sail.

  1. Critical Mass - We don't quite have the critical mass, although we have 5 new subscribers since last meeting. I think the tipping point for stability and momentum will be around 35-40 members. So get the word out!
  2. Content - We need some quality content at the meetings for both experts and newbies.

- Experts: I would love to get the developer of the Ann Arbor District Library to give a talk about the site. I have attempted to contact them through their site contact form but have made no progress. Anybody know who this is? Also, everyone is screaming for theming help. We need a theming session with a local theming guru. Know any? Maybe we just need a working meeting where we bang our heads on themes.
- Newbies: I think a work session where newbies can bring there questions and be answered by the group would be helpful for them. If your a newbie, what do you need?
3. Location - I am great full to Michael Hess for the space in the School of Information and it seems we are welcome there for the near future. But we need a free permanent central location with wireless and the ability to project. Ideally with Beer in house or close by.
4. Member Participation (YOU!) - A little feed back on what you want from the group, what you have to offer and how you think we might get there. Have a topic you can present? Have a topic you want covered?

Next meeting is tentatively scheduled for 30Jul07 and has no agenda yet. Anybody willing to share?
