User group meeting
This month's Portland Drupal User Group meeting will be at Metal Toad on Wednesday, May 11 starting at 6pm with social time, pizza, and beverages.
Our speaker this month is Dan Muzyka, a senior developer at Phase2. He's going to talk about lessons he's learned porting the ajax_comments module to Drupal 8. So if you're a developer, you will not want to miss this talk. Also for others, this will be a good talk to better understand the process and problems that are inherent in the porting process.
Even though DrupalCon is happening that week, the meetup is still happening!

wish I could make it
I would love to join heads with Drupal dev's around Portland regarding D8 ports. Maybe at a Brewpal?
I'll be at DrupalCon and have to miss this one, sadly

Slides from my presentation
For those of you who couldn't make it tonight, or who came to PDUG but would like to look at the slides for reference, here they are:
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1LNE-MQr6VnO-f4ngwQ9pVBMqfdun1Jo7...
Be sure to look at the speaker notes section at the bottom (that section of the window is kind of small in Google Slides by default, so it’s easy to miss). I put lots of details in the speakers notes, so you can get all of the info I covered during the DUG.
As of this afternoon, a bunch of my patches were merged into the module, and it is semi-usable for testing purposes (definitely not ready for a production site):

If you want to look at the code, or try out the module on a sandbox site, it might be a helpful complement to the slides.
Thanks for posting this and
Thanks for posting this and also sharing some great content while so many of us were out of town.
