Ciao,
as most of you know, from the 21 to the 26 of june there will be the Drupal Dev Days in Milan (Italy) and I'm looking to plan one or two bike tour to keep the tradition of the Tour de Drupal.
I'm thinking to plan two tours so that everybody can take part on it, not only real bikers.
That's the idea:

It's a 30 km flat path, on the naviglio martesana bike path, you can do it with every kind of bike and if you want you can get back to Milano also by train.
To stay on topic during the path you can see Leonardo da Vinci's house and a water wheel that should be a project of Leonardo.

This path is more difficult and you must have a road bike.
The idea is to get to the Como lake at the North of Milano.
Doing all the tour by bike should be very long, so we could get the train to short a little the tour.
During this path we will have to face the uphill Madonna del Ghisallo, 8,5 km with a slope of 5,5%, up to 9 and 14%.
This is a climb of the Giro di Lombardia and of the Giro d'Italia.
On the top we can visit the church and the bike Museum.
Another challenge sould be the Muro di Sormano, a very hard climb of 2,4 km, with a slope of 12% up to the 24%, close to the traffic.
I think that are good ideas, but it depends on how many people want thake part on it.
I'm also looking for some bike shop in Milan where it's possibile rent road bikes.
That's all

Thanks!
Thanks for these ideas. I come with a folding bike, so the flatter, 30 km sounds like a good trip for me.

Great stuff!
Thanks for thinking about this! I will be renting a bike in Milan and will probably just have a cheap, city bike, so the shorter 30km ride would probably be more suitable for me (also because I am not as fit as I once was, and it will be quite warm as well!). Looking forward to it. When were you thinking of doing the ride(s)?
I was still thinking about
I was still thinking about the day, in this season the sunset comes late, maybe we could also do at the end of a day, with final aperitif.
Is entirely a self-produced event, we can decide together.

I will try to bring my folding bike too ... would be glad to have bike tours in Milan and its surroundings, and also for me, as for Ifrik, any 30 km mostly flat trip might be a good trip for me, too ;-)

Happy to see such a tour
@bessone: is there any news with road bike rental and alternate routes?
Form my side, I'm still a newcomer to road cycling. I have about a year of experience which is mainly on flat paths. So although I'm interested in trying a climb, probably it's not for me. But if not so many people is interested in climbing, I'm in a 60-80 km long flat ride at an average speed between 25-30 km/h
Hello @arpadCsanyi, I think
Hello @arpadCsanyi,
I think that climb on Ghisallo is a bit too hard. But on the flat course I and others will not be back with the train, for a total of 60 km ride, would you be interested in it?
For the rent bicycles we searched some bike shops, we will make the list ASAP.

Bike rental group
We are 10+ people interested by rental, shouldn't we make a group for that?
So we can confirm the amount of bikes needed then someone can contact the bike shop + we can go together, btw @KiuzHack thanks for the proposal. Can we meet tomorrow morning or during the lunch to organize that?
Please count me in if you make a group rental!
I may not make it to a meeting at lunchtime today but I definitely want to rent a bike so please include one for me if you make a group booking. I'll be at the automated testing workshop and then going to get the bike after 6.
If you don't make the group booking @colorfield please can you confirm it's not happening so I (and others) can make individual bookings... Thanks! See you later.
