Hey peoples,

Another Perth Drupal meetup is on again, this coming Wednesday (24th Feb) at the Durty Nelly's Irish Pub in Perth.

If you're interested in anything Drupal, please come - all types (technical, project manager's, hobbyists, students, designers) welcome!

Get there before 6:00 pm for a happy hour beverage.

If you're new, and need some help finding where we're sitting, feel free to call Sam or myself (email me for my number: alex.bergin@gmail.com).

Cheers, and beers.

quick run down on what went down on at this evening's meetup

Hey everyone,

Just a quick run down on what went down on at this evening's meetup:

We originally had about 5 people planning to attend, but 3 pulled out last minute! so it was only couzinhub and myself attending.

We discussed things like drupal themeing, views themeing, Drupal development workflow, and also a bit of non-drupal stuff! All in all, still a good meetup this month!

Couzinhub also had some good ideas for the format of the Drupal meetups going forward (having just moved to Perth from Vancouver where there's a significantly larger Drupal community), I'll let him discuss these here though.

For the next Drupal meetup, I know we (including Sam) want Thsutton to come along to the next meetup to brief us all on how the Drupal South conference in Wellington went. I also know there are a few other people (that haven't replied in these perth meetup threads yet) that had some general Drupal questions - please come along next time, we're only too happy to give out free advice in a bid to foster a local community, drupal/OS awareness, network and share knowledge!

For the next meetup, if we go ahead with a more formal approach (i.e. Q&A time or meetup subject), having a quieter environment and a pc at hand might help - I'm pretty sure I can get the itomic board room in West Perth allocated, which can fit about 6-7 people.

Let's book in a tentative date for the next meetup of Wednesday, March 24th 2010. Please reply back if this is suitable or not.

Cheers.

sounds good to me. I also

sounds good to me. I also like the idea of doing something in an office - durty nellies is pretty noisy.

I'm keen too

I've only just joined up and would have been at the Feb meet if I'd known about it... however, keen to come along to the March one.

Had no hope of making a February date but 24 March is booked in. 6pm as before?

Late comment here for me,

Late comment here for me, sorry about that.
About the format of the Vancouver meeting, the good thing was that there was always a main topic, and/or someone exposing something. It varied a lot in time and subject, but always related to drupal. If no one was presenting something, you could just grab the attention of the crowd to expose anything you want, like a new little trick with views, some CSS technique that works well when drupal theming, or even talk about a module you made, or want to build, looking for help to build it, or help a developer of the drupal community contribute or maintain something.

There's always plenty of subject to talk about, and all you need is people interested in internet in general, drupal in particular.

Also, like Alex mentioned, meetings were held in a 'working' environment most of the time. Sometimes in the summer, it could just be a BBQ though. And after every session we could continue the discussion at the pub.

Thanks Alex for getting things going, hopefully we can get the discussion going !

I'll be there this time (you
