Hi all
After some lively discussion at the Cape Town Meetup last night, it was suggested that we start a discussion around a) what do people want to hear about and b) what do people want to talk about at the Drupal Camp Cape Town on 21 October.
Some broad suggestions around the topics (based off DrupalCon Dublin's speaker tracks) are:
- Front End
- Management - Being Human / Community, Project Management, Business
- Drupal Showcase
- DevOps - Performance and Scaling, DevOps
- Site Building
- Backend - Coding and Development, Core Conversations, Symfony, PHP
- Training - basics for beginners
If there is something you want to hear about, please let us know and we'll see if we can persuade someone to talk about it.
If there is a topic you want to talk about, but not sure if anyone is interested to listen to you, pop your topic up here and see if we get any response.
If you want to submit a speaker submission, or know more about it, please feel free to contact me directly at inky@amazeelabs.com
Full camp info: http://capetown2016.drupalcamp.co.za/
Looking forward to hearing from you all!

Talk topics I could
Talk topics I could give:
D8:
* D8 Theming engine vs D7 / Twig and D8 (I would need to do some research, there is likely someone else who could do a better job of this)
* Creating a module and The Drupal Console (slight rework of talk I did recently)
D7:
* Using the power of Drupal install profiles for quick and consistent site building (topic title could do with rephrasing!)
I would like to hear:
* In-depth case studies of D8 implementations
* D8 site configuration management
* Decoupled Drupal 8 / Drupal 8 as a Restful Service
This might be interesting and useful
Business:
* Why use Drupal (helping decision makers and influencers justify Drupal as a tech choice)
What I'm interested in
Duncan's provided some pretty good suggestions that I'm keen to hear about as well.
What I'd be happy to do a talk about is the development training topic I proposed to Jason: the basics of theme and module development in Drupal (D7 & D8).
What I'd personally like to learn more about is:
A) Tips and techniques for front-end and back-end development (workflows, tools, testing, etc.)
B) The other PHP / JS libraries that D8 uses (an extension of Alex' talk last year)
C) Tips for running a business around offering Drupal websites (like managing client expectations).
In other words, what I'm less interested in learning about is modules and site-building stuff.

I'd be very interested to
I'd be very interested to hear about Drupal 8 configuration management compared to current "standard" workflows with Features on Drupal 7. Particularly from any one who has some hands on experience with both sides.
Still having a think and keeping an eye on the suggestions here for what I could talk about.

A topic I would like to present
The Power of Paragraphs!
Migration
All I am in a position to present right now is the migration talk I gave last month if you have a need for it.
The topics proposed by previous posters are all interesting to me. Definitely leaning towards Drupal 8.
Drupal hosting stack
Another topic I would be interested in hearing about is a talk on the hosting Drupal stack; Yes we use LAMP, or some variant, and most use Drush, but what about the other tools in the mix?
Would like to hear more on this too
I agree Duncan, the drupal hosting stack would be great area to learn more. Especially caching on your own server installation.
Agreed! Best way to discuss these tools...
I agree, learning about these would be great!
I see OpenDevShop is "Built on Aegir", so first discussing about what Aegir is and what it does, then Learning about what ODS adds above and beyond it seems to be a good way to go.
