Just thinking out loud, but around $20/person seems about right.
As for which part of Orlando, we have nothing specific in mind. Originally, I thought of Bubbalou's near UCF, but I don't think anyone is tied to a specific area.
The major stumbling blocks discussed yesterday on IRC included:
Having it on a Friday night in Orlando means traffic. So much traffic. Making it much more difficult for out-of-towners to make it by a reasonable time.
Saturday would help mitigate the travel issue, but one of the key organizers wouldn't be able to make it because of Gator football (don't judge him).
We have the date tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 10, but nothing is set in stone yet. As with everything we do, it's completely dependent on the venue (heh).
If we can't make this happen, it's not the end of the world. I was thinking this would be a nice way to kick off our FLDC17 organizing process, get everyone excited about some of the changes we're talking about for the event, and brainstorm on how we can make it the best DrupalCamp on planet Earth.
If we're going with Downtown Orlando, the heart of the beast, then may I suggest more of a "brunch" meeting? Traffic in Orlando gets worse as the day progresses. Particularly from the south. (I'm coming from the north...woohoo!)
Making this meeting like one of our old (Orlando) meetups at Mindcomet would be ideal. Get the creative juices flowing...then eat and take a nap. Perfect!
