It gives me great pleasure to announce that we are working on a Drupal Association initiative for India. Some of you might be aware that we had this discussion a couple of years back after which those discussions were shelved for the time being. With the recent initiatives from Drupal Association to build support for the global community at a regional level, we think it is a good idea to restart our efforts to regroup and plan for a regional chapter.
With this in mind, Shyamala Rajaram called on various regional leaders attending DrupalCamp Mumbai 2018 to talk about these efforts. We have had two successive meetings since then which were run over a Hangout call and attended by various regional leaders (full list below).
At the outset, we want to highlight our current objectives and invite comments and participation. Our primary mission is to support all community activities in the Indian region and not to take over. Our objectives are to:
- Promote Drupal in India through various channels
- Support community activities in various Indian cities.
You might notice that we are not taking a lot on ourselves and that’s the intention. We want to do one thing and do it well. To gain clarity on this objective, we are working on a survey which will be sent out subsequently. Please participate in the survey (watch this space for more) and help us plan better.
We are very excited to work on what could be the first MVP of regional chapters of Drupal Association. We can’t do this without you and are very hopeful of your support. If you want to help us with these efforts or just want to reach out, please leave a comment here saying so.

Wonderful Initiative
Kudos to the tireless and selfless drive you people in the list have had, to nourish and develop this amazing community in our country!
