Congratulations. Drupal was officially accepted to participate in Google Summer of Code 2020. Information for both students and mentors below.

Students - follow the 12 steps below and read required documentation. This will ensure any student can get started on their own.

Step #1: Review GSoC 2020 project idea list ( https://groups.drupal.org/node/535736 )

Step #2: Join Drupal's GSoC Group ( https://groups.drupal.org/google-summer-code )

Step #3: Read and accomplish all steps in all documentation for Drupal's GSoC students ( https://www.drupal.org/node/2415225 )

Step #4: Chat with us in #drupal-google on Slack (details about Chat with the Drupal community using Slack @ https://www.drupal.org/slack )

Step #5: Contact mentor of project with ideas for project proposal to review via drupal.org (if no mentor, contact Slurpee, gvso, or skyred on slack or drupal.org)

Step #6: Contribute to Drupal via reviewing and testing patches ( https://www.drupal.org/patch )

Step #7: Contribute to Drupal via writing patches for contributed modules/themes ( https://www.drupal.org/contribute/development )

Step #8: Contribute to Drupal via writing patches for core and become a "core contributor" ( https://www.drupal.org/contribute/core )

Step #9: Clone Drupal's GSoC proposal template into your own project ( https://groups.drupal.org/node/411293 )

Step #10: Review previously accepted proposals ( https://groups.drupal.org/node/459223 )

Step #11: Create project plan with details via proposal based on your project ideas with feedback from mentor/s

Step #12: Request available mentors on Slack in #drupal-google (don't DM/PM mentors) to review proposal as many times as possible prior to submission deadline (utilize Google Docs with comment for proposal review). Make sure to allow access to Google Doc so that mentors can actually see the proposal to review.

Mentors - add project ideas @ https://groups.drupal.org/node/535736 -- even if you're unavailable to mentor, feel free to add a project idea. If you want to mentor, but don't have a project idea, contact Slurpee with your experience and intent of mentoring. Our goal is to add as many mentors to each project as possible.

Feel free to comment this post with questions or contact Slurpee directly if you have any questions related to GSoC.
