Converting to EBS Boot

Was thinking of converting the Mercury 1.0 AMI to a EBS using the tutorial at Alestic.

Are you going the ext3 route, or upgrading Ubuntu?

If the former, do you know of a way to do EBS snapshots with ext3? I haven't found one yet.

Any updates on an EBS boot? Ive been waiting on the sidelines patiently as I think an EBS Boot is easier for people like me with less server admin experience.
