Thanks for all of your support and ideas during development. I'm getting ready for one final sprint during the last week and I'd appreciate your feedback on the code. The latest revision is currently available in CVS.

Hey phildu,
The code isn't ready for production use so there are no releases yet. Feel free to check the code out and try it out in a testing environment. Here are instructions on doing this with CVS:

Thanks for giving it a try. I found what was causing your problem. Can you try to install it again? Again I really appreciate your support, feedback, and patience while the module is still in development.

where can i change the country ?

phildu's picture

seem to work better, but...
i receceive nothing on my mobile ?
it's maybe , because, i cannot fix the country and then the prefix of the number was wrong

can i suggest some features
1 send a vcard by sms
2 a "on the fly" counter of letter in javasript with a limit.
3 send mms
4 more difficult : send a question by sms and record answer for .. poll for example.

error again ..

phildu's picture

when i go to the edit a content type have a lot of error like this

valid argument supplied for foreach() in /home.10/arrimage/www/drupal5/sites/all/modules/smsframework/modules/sms_clickatell.module on line 82. etc..

Interesting work...

Checked your screen cast and i think this is not the typical usage of such a module. I have no idea how you are able to preselect a string for SMS - a client might like to send to someone. If you find a way to mark text and then press send, this might be cool - however i don't see in what cases my users want this or this cases are really rare.

The most implemented SMS features for users - i know - is to allow them to send a individual text of their choice to their friends. What you get with it? That's simple - you need to be rich - very rich - and your money goes out of a very very very big window... .-))). The upcomming invoice will make you closing such a services - for sure. We saw them all in Germany, Austria and so on. Started with a SMS hype via web and closed after some months. Whatever this guys tried to archive - i'm sure it was a big big fault. Their problem...

On the other side this is something a website maintainer might use - as a better double-opt-in authentication method or to send a current customer a status of his orders, urgent stock prices and things like this.

This cases don't require a "filter" - however it might be nice to have it. I simply require a plain text box for text and one for the number. mostly every time i saw them with a country select box (+49, etc), maybe a mobile area select box (like: 0173, 0174, 0176) and a input for the phone number.

You implemented a service selection box (T-Mobile, etc)... i never seen this yet. All this service are nearly local services. We know if someone select +49 (177) it must go into German e-Plus Network. Not many people will understand what you want from them with this big list. And finally no website owner like to get into a money hole with international services if he'd like to only offer local services... I think usability needs work... additional to this it becomes more and more impossible to know what Network a users have. In Germany we are able to port a mobile phone number to a different service. In this way you are able to keep your mobile phone number for live. And finally no one can know what network my mobile phone have. If this is 0177 it might be eplus, but only if the customer haven't ported his number to a different network.

gateways for sending/receiving sms messages that are free?

artatac2's picture

I am interested including texting/ sms functionality in my sites. What I can't get my head around (despite much research) is wether their are gateways for sending/receiving sms messages that are free? It sounds such a simple question but put into Google "SMS texting free" and you get 1000s of pages but all who charge (or limited free trial). I am in the UK and with Vodafone so have about 200 texts a month free included in my mobile package, but even with these I have yet to find a way to use these direct from a website or computer. I did read an interesting article http://www.iphonestalk.com/ichat-via-sms/ that shows how the text from a mac iChat. BUT not in the UK!! so is there such a service? - If so I shall rush and install your excellent module

Receiving text messages

scedwar's picture

Hi,

I'm only really interested in the receiving of SMS messages, rather than the sending of SMS (partly for the reasons the previous post made - I too am in the UK).

How does SMS framework fit with the existing sms to blog project:

Thanks, Stephen

It's been three months

since there was any activity here. I can only assume that work on this module has stopped. It's a shame because it seemed so promising.
