This is the current status of the d.o redesign as it relates to Download and Extend along with Search.
Bill O'Connor and Keith Jay continue to be the project leads for this section. Keith and I reviewed and attempted to resolve several issues related to the implementation of Solr and the filters on the D&E section. Several advancements were made in the handling of Solr on staging 5, but we are still running into blockers. After hitting a few blocking issues, we shifted our focus to themeing and management of images on the D&E pages.
Blocking Solr issues:
- There is a pending patch associated with the Project module that is blocking the implementation of themes on the D&E pages (referenced here: http://drupal.org/node/371957. An email has been sent to the Project module maintainers to see if we can get this taken care of quickly.
- There is a pending patch for the Drupalorg module that also needs to have a patch applied. It is also referenced in the above issue.
- Both of these issues are key to supporting the work that Bill and Keith have been doing the past few weeks. This is critical as there are few folks actively contributing to this section.
Other issues:
- We are having some difficulty getting image handling working correctly on staging 5. Keith will be following up with an issue.
- Participation from the assigned redesign teams was lacking in today's sprint. Unfortunately, only Bill O'Connor, Keith Jay, and I participated on these sections this week. There was no representation from the other 8 firms.
Overall, we're making progress, but things are still slow because of participation and blocking issues. We will continue to work throughout the week to see if we can resolve these issues and make progress implementing the Solr filter and the image handling on the D&E pages. The team members now have access to local environments for working, so we are hopeful that the learning curve for those wishing to help out will be significantly reduced. We are working on brining Jonathan Hedstrom, Aiden Lister, Peter Wolanin, and Makara Wang on board to help fill the resource gap.
