The aegir project makes deploying code bases and sites a breeze. One drawback is that the admin is locked into default apache virtual host configurations. These files are easy enough to customize but the customization can be lost by executing several of the sites tasks.
The following changes are proposed:

Rename site verify task to rebuild. The site verify task does not meet the definition of 'verify'. It is closer to a rebuild or re-initialize task.

Create site verify task which confirms presence of and permissions on necessary files and db but does not modify file content.

Create functionality which allows administrator to specify that a site vhost file is created using either the aegir templates or a custom file.

Create functionality to lock a site so that the vhost file is non-modifiable.
These changes will go a long way in making aegir more admin friendly.
