This post will discuss how to write a good header tag. As a general rule, you should have one <"h1"> tag, no more then a couple <"h2"> tags, and a spattering of <"h3"> tags
- First things first; find out if the page has an <"h1"> tag
- If you find out that there are too many <"h1"> tags, then do the following:
- Review the <"h1"> tags and determine which can be eliminated
- If you cannot eliminate enough <"h1"> tags, then rewrite them as an <"h2"> tag.
- Now look at the <"h1">, <"h2">, and <"h3"> tags. Determine whether there is a keyword in each header tag
- It is preferable to have the meta-keyword included in the <"h1"> tag for every page because Google places high value on <"h1"> tags
- If possible edit all header tags to include at least one keyword in each of them. Remember, if you cannot put the keyword in there easily, then don't put it in there at all. We want to make this look natural - not to look like keyword stuffing.
