Drupal can defend its crown again next year, 'coz Drupal 6 is just around the corner...
Once people realize that it will be easier to create templates in Drupal 6, it will surely win again!

They both won
Drupal won best overall open source CMS (Joomla was second), while Joomla won best open source PHP CMS (Drupal was second). Weird twist, how one can be best overall but not best in its own category, but anyway, both are more than worthy of the recognition =)

Drupal was also nominated for other categories but...
As Drupal became popular, it also gained notoriety in other Web development technologies as well.
IMHO, Drupal can't really win the "best open source php cms" since it is not even 100% php anymore.
This explains the "performance" variance of each unique Drupal set-up.
But professionally, Drupal exceeds a lot for "community-driven" websites. Wordpress, Plone, Joomla! and the rest has their own market to blend with.
