Yah, seems to me, these are not the best advertisements for install profiles. And while the 'we share' part of it is in itself a good thing, seen together, these muddy the waters more than offering clear choice.
Lots of them are old
Lots of them are old. I see many companies sharing their make files or install profiles in different ways. Like modules, the ones that will rise to the top are the truly useful ones -- that meet a particular pain or target market.
