Information technology is one of the fastest growing professions, yet women are leaving the field in huge numbers. One woman who is now on a job search said men in her company often expect her to play a secretarial role.

I'd like to know how this compares to to other fields
Interesting, but how does IT stack up against other industries? Is this due to issues specific to tech, or is it for the same reasons women leave other kinds of jobs? And is it all kinds of women or is it women who have kids? I know many women who left full time law firm positions after having kids, for example. I suspect work/life balance is at least as big an issue as discrimination, and salary differences often disappear if you compare childless women and all men to mothers instead of all women to all men.
It's a problem for any industry to be losing talent for stupid reasons, of course, IT employers need to take a look at what's going on.
