We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

FYI: http://drupal.org/node/204667

We're not specifically testing a "library installation," but this represents a first step towards establishing a long-term and mutually beneficial relationship with the Drupal community. With a number of core developers, including Dries, in town, we'll also have a chance to run a few ideas by them regarding a couple of the Drupal-powered scholarly communities that we have begun to construct.

¡Viva la Revolucion!

Test Account Registration!

One of my bugaboos has always been the default way of user registration. You should be able to register choosing your own password and still have to authenticate by email to create content, do whatever.

It used to be that Drupal assigned you a password -- which was awful. Now you can have new users choose their own passwords but if you set things up like this, the system automatically lists them as "authenticated" -- without email authentication.

The only way to get around this is to use Logontobbagon which allows people to both choose their own password AND to authenticate by email.

You shouldn't need a module to do something like this when the vast majority of other systems out there work precisely in this way.

So my suggestion would be to test how well the default account registration works.
