Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

This the premiere of the Drupal comic strip .
I intend to share all the joy and pain in my journey with Drupal through this comic strip.

I hope to tackle Drupal issues, community concerns, violent reactions, and other miscellaneous stuff that can be drawn.

Feel free to give suggestions for future characters, plots, and events. I'd also appreciate a helping hand since I'm not an arts major.

This stars "Dan" and his tarsier.

Thats great - do you want to do it monthly, can you? for the newsletter.

that's a good plan but...

Hey hal,

Yes, I plan a weekly entry. However, I still don't have a good host and dns.

Since I'm a community newbie, I don't know if my humour would/will offend the general Drupal population. It's even my first time to glance at the newsletter coz I thought it's part of the documention :p.

If given the chance to sketch comics for the newsletter, I guess having the dialog and script approved is a must. Script and ideas are always welcome :)

Thanks,

Aaron needs to help here. We could I guess have them archived for you on d-n.o
Whats wrong with your present host? Whats hap with your dns?
I think we all have a sense of humour that we don't let out because we may offend others. That shouldn't stop you from experimenting, I dont think, as the creative artiste should not censor themself, otherwise nought will arise. The drupal community has many views, and some part of it will laugh while another part will frown.. another part will permanently smile because they want people to think "why is that person laughing?". Maybe you could draw this theme into shape for part of the comic.

If someone gets offended, then they will say something. If we think its not appropriate for the newsletter we will tell you. Don't get bogged down by us having to approve and reapprove, as that will get too darn boring for all involved. I'd like to see an angry character, who always gets his kit on when someone borders his space, who always rants when he mistakenly thinks someone is having a 'go' at him. I suspect that you could a lot characters here, that you could take advantage of without people knowing where you got this or that from, and if they saw where, they would most probably be proud of the fact that you noticed them. Try it!

Everyone else:
come give your scripts and ideas NOW!!

work in progress

hey there hal,

Yup, I'm gonna buzz myself and try to come up with a good character line-up, plot and graphic style.
I'm going to start with single-paned comics, moving to multiple-paned ones. I might get some ideas from g.d.o. and irc too ;)

Can't think of an extremely mad character yet...

I'm looking at Angie Byron's "Drupal Personas" for character descriptions.

Thats great what your doing.
I would like to see a character based on webchick. I started listening to the podcasts, and found my mind wandering over what char she could be drawn as, and found a figure clad in a spidersuit much like spiderman, but who sat comfortably most of the time in a corner looking over someone elses shoulder, of course big bosomed and mentally fit. I wrote it all down at the time on my phone and can't quite get to it at the moment. I've just covered 3000 miles in my car on a job, and only yesterday got back.
Those drupal personas dont seem that specific, are more stereotypical. They are a bit vague for me, and not round characters with personalities. Its hard to say until I see something really. Have you got anything?

Ideas, eh?

Enter Doomla - the juggernaut anti-hero trying to take over the world... wide web. Then there's Mambomb, the villainous HTerroristML. No worries though, because cool shades Joe Drupal comes to save the day ridding the world of insecurities and from the evil non-compliant invalidites. And with the help of Drupal's legion of Moduloid sidekicks led by Chuck CCK and the vivacious Boobsy Views, no amount of voodoo cyber-terrorism can limit the imagination and explosion of the CoMaSy universe.

Meanwhile, back in the drawing board, Mr MR hatches a plan and bakes a recipe for a new cartoon cookie...
