Throwing this out there in hopes that someone has some info. I'm trying to find photoshop cs4 extended as a download. I can't run cs5 and am going crazy trying to find cs4. Anybody have any info? Or better yet a copy of cs4 that I can copy? LOL. Thanks in advance.

Registration
When you register your copy of CS4 you get access to the Adobe portal. From this location you have access to downloads of the product you purchased along with access to the license information for that purchase.
If you didn't register your copy; you might be stuck doing things in the gray; that's a massive download.
gimp
I know it's not what you've asked for, but I left Photoshop years ago and don't miss it: http://www.gimp.org/ The gimp is an excellent bitmap editor. Licensing, updates and distribution issues are no longer a problem.
Problem is....... I don't
Problem is....... I don't have cs4, never have on my computers. Always used work or friends. Unfortunately that is no longer viable so I am hoping to get my own. Like I said, if anyone is feeling giving............ LOL
Gimp is great if you're on
Gimp is great if you're on Windows. If you're a Mac user, I've been working with Pixelmator lately (which is super-cheap and fabulous.)
Cross platform
gimp is on Mac, Linux and Windows.
Gimp isn't great on Mac
The Mac version of GIMP makes very poor use of interface conventions (runs through X11), so using it is a pain. The window focus in particular drives me batty.
A native Mac app is definitely worth investing in if you're going to be using it a lot.

Yes and No
Ken, you raise an important point.
gimp on mac/windows/linux is essentially the same. If your only experience with bitmap editing is Photoshop, your first-time usage of (mac or windows) gimp will be a frustrating head-scratcher, no doubt. Add to that the quirks of X11/gnome, and, yea, Ken you've got a solid argument. gimp has a number of extensions that photoshop-ify the interface (for Mac) and there are native builds of gimp, but I am not giving proper attention to usability for those most comfortable on Mac.
However, I'd argue that the learning curve is worth it, for several reasons. You won't be pigeon-holed to a single platform. There's been more than a few times when my mac is on other tasks or unavailable and I'm able to run gimp on ubuntu. The package distribution and update advantages of FLOSS software (such as Drupal, vim and gimp) are convenient compared to the cumbersome methods used by Apple and Microsoft. (sudo apt-get update as opposed to checking whether every single app is current individual, and, if so, what are my requirements for udpating? Where's my software license code?)
Most importantly, feature-wise gimp is nearly at parity with Photoshop. PS remains the gold standard; and you need gold for that standard. Many get the job done without compromise, and without PS.
Alas; it's a matter of taste, of course.
Which dovetails me back to the original point. "Warez" is a non-sequitor with FLOSS.
I still actually think that
I still actually think that the Windows / Linux versions of GIMP are more usable than the Mac version. If there are plugins that improve the experience then great, but since I only use it to measure pixel sizes anyway I'm not going to spend a lot of time customizing it. I just "deal."
What works best for someone definitely depends on what you're going to use it for and whether you'd rather invest money or time (or some ratio).

Uh, seriously OT
I can appreciate not wanting to eat the cost of a copy of photoshop but this is not the venue for "dude, anyone have a warez copy of CS4?". Try to keep it on topic (and grab a copy of utorrent while you're at it).
I meant it tongue in cheek.
I meant it tongue in cheek. All I'm looking for is a source to download it from. Adobe seems to just have cs5 and I'm hesitant to download from a third party.
That's fine.
But I'm quite serious. There are entire websites (not to mention IRC channels) set aside for this kind of thing. Your options include paying up:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B001EUBSL0/ref=sr_1_2_olp?ie=UTF8...
downloading a torrent client:
http://www.utorrent.com/
finding some other venue to inquire about pirated software or railing about the injustice of it all (somewhere else).
I'd prefer to keep the group unmoderated but if we can't keep on topic I won't have a choice.
Wow.......... relax. I'm
Wow.......... relax. I'm not "railing about the injustice of it all". The bottom line of my request is simply this:
A reputable site to PURCHASE, yes I said purchase, pardon me for not being explicit earlier, CS4. Adobe does not list it and all I was looking for was some input from anyone that could recommend a trustworthy site. When did I ever ask about pirated software? If anyone can recommend a trustworthy third party site at a reasonable price it would be much appreciated.
Z Point
I think Allen is just saying, this is a Drupal group, and your request isn't really "on topic".
And, in fact, you did say "Anybody have any info? Or better yet a copy of cs4 that I can copy?" which implies illegal activity. Good luck!
p.s. just buy Photoshop, well worth the money. If you are a student or work at a school I think there are educational copies that are pretty cheap. Have you checked craigslist?
You can't legally download
You can't legally download CS4 since CS5 came out. You can buy the old version on DVD from any place that still has it in stock, but no download.
Thank you Sheena. That's
Thank you Sheena. That's what i needed to find out.
CS3
Hi,
I bought PS cs3 on ebay. It was very reasonable. There is no obvious difference in my mind, between that and CS4, from a 20/80 perspective. You have to be vigilant about pirated versions, though. Not sure how it works, but I have a feeling that some people selling don't even realize their goods are not the real deal. Trustworthy on Ebay means 99.9 % rating and there are quite a few such sources. They will want to keep their rating high.
Fireworks was awesome, I still use my old version (mx 2004) for batch and .png file exporting. Perfect for Drupal or any site. Then it got bloated in CS4-5. Sigh. Anyway, PS CS3 is way more than adequate for most things. I hope to use it for the next few years, at least. Some digital things do age gracefully. I really appreciate that.
