We held our first virtual meetup with remote participation.

Miami - Vince Youmans http://vyoumans.com/

In Person (Fort Lauderdale, Broward County - half way between Miami and Boca Raton):
Jay Epstein http://www.usielectronics.com
Carlos Kosloff http://www.ladywig.com
Me

We started the meeting by using a Skype conference call (once I figured out how to do that) and then by sharing or desktop with our remote users via Yugma (https://www.yugma.com/products/yugmase-skype-edition.php). We got good feedback from our remote participants about the virtual experience and our local users were greatful (mostly me) for the Drupal brainpower coming over via Skype. We plan on trying a different web conferencing solution for the next meetup recommended by our friends in Houston (http://www.teamviewer.com). A lot of these free web conferencing solutions time out after two hours, so it is a good idea to have a backup handy.

Jay gave a quick demo of his site with a fusion theme and use of the skinr module. That opened up the discussion on theming options. We also talked about options for importing thousands of records from an external database into Drupal.

For the general discussion portion of the meetup, we discussed the following:
· migrating Zencart to Ubercart (not a pain free experience)
· running Drupal on a mini-ITX and iterfacing it to other hardware (e.g. PIC microcontroller, PLCs, Bit Whacker, Arduino, etc.)

Due to audio feedback with the Skype session, we did not record this meetup. We plan on continuing to have remote users participate in this meetup, and hopefully figure out a way to record the session (maybe with a second computer).

Talk to you at the next meetup,
-Hector
