Lots of stuff happening this summer with the Drupal Open Garden Project

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

There is a ton of stuff going on with the Drupal Open Garden Project this summer.
We are just getting underway & we are now known as a 'Summer Learning Collaborative.'

Classes

We have some basic open source development skills-building classes underway (command line, git, php, drush and maybe IRC & 'theme crew')

Projects

We are starting to work on a large group Drupal project (related to 'garden conversations' & involving an 'Alphabet Garden') that we will all work on this summer while we learn PHP. It will involve Feeds, Maps and Widgets. And maybe some Managing of News & Yahoo Pipes. And Metadata.

Community Events

Lots of community events and activities planned in our two main cities, Minneapolis and San Francisco. Free Geek Chicago has a number of their staff and volunteers taking Command Line 101. And this is all in relation to strengthening community gardens initiatives. There are at least 30 people involved who are actually doing stuff & more every day. It is seriously fun.

Collaboration Experiments

We give each other 'karma' and learn lessons about using Skype, helping new IRC users, and playing with short screencasts using Jing.
