Let's have more group organizers for this HTML5 group

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

So, in New York at DrupalCamp NYC8, a group of people started a lot of work to get Drupal to output HTML 5. We are creating a package of modules called HTML5 Tools, http://drupal.org/project/html5_tools, and a base theme to go with those modules called HTML5 Base, http://drupal.org/project/html5_base.

We want to coordinate our work on groups.drupal.org, and the already existing group at groups.drupal.org/html-5 makes the most sense. We would like the following people to be added as group organizers:

ericduran / Eric Duran / http://groups.drupal.org/user/21703
bleen18 / Alex Ross / http://groups.drupal.org/user/9383
jenlampton / Jen Lampton / http://groups.drupal.org/user/2771
frankcarey / Frank Carey / http://groups.drupal.org/user/7244
jackalope / Jack Aponte / http://groups.drupal.org/user/1358
jensimmons / Jen Simmons / http://groups.drupal.org/user/7064

What do you think opensanta?

Sounds good to me. Count me in as a potential kibitzer on the theme initiative.

Yeah Laura!

Jump into the HTML Base issue queue at http://drupal.org/project/issues/html5_base?categories=All to help discuss and decide what to do with this new fangled HTML5 stuff. And also, to do it!

santa?

opensanta, any thoughts on us suddenly swarming into your group and asking to take over? We don't mean to be rude...

We just want a groups.drupal.org group, and it makes the most sense to use this one instead of starting a new one. I believe the policy is that if we don't hear from you within two weeks (which is August 9), then the site administrators will simply grant our request to moderate the group. If you don't want this to happen, jump in and say so!

I´m interested to help this group

Panels everywhere angle

I'm working on two sites that use panels_everywhere for theming. I'm sorting out the kinks regarding HTML5.

Count me in.

For those looking to help

For those looking to help out, subscribe to the issues in the issue queue here and help (comment, post code, patches, etc) wherever you can: http://drupal.org/project/issues/html5_base

Has anyone tried contacting @opensanta via his d.o contact form? If not, lmk and I'll try.

More on how to get involved

jensimmons's picture

I did email opensanta through his d.o contact form on the day I opened this discussion — July 26. Feel free to ping him again, I'd hate to take over in a bad way and upset him. But either way, basically next Monday, August 9 we can ping the moderators of g.d.o, and they will give us the group. Then we change the layout of the group page, make things sticky, etc., so that it's easier for people to learn about what's going on.

Jacine is right! Help out with markup and theming at: http://drupal.org/project/issues/html5_base. Or if you are more into module development, jump into http://drupal.org/project/issues/html5_tools.

We are making both a theme and a module. Which is where and why is explained here: http://groups.drupal.org/node/82664

Drupalcon Copenhagen

masagin's picture

Anyone going to Copenhagen? Let's have a sort of brainstorm there. It could be useful.

YES. I will be at DrupalCon.

jensimmons's picture

YES. I will be at DrupalCon. I want to do something at the BoF. And at the code sprints.

Who else will be there?

Sadly, I guess we just take

Sadly, I guess we just take this issue to the infrastructure team? So they can grant us access.

Done! WooHoo! :D
