www.downfallguild.org is a very active, highly trafficked guild website for the guild "Downfall" on the server "Gorgonnash". We've recently made the plunge into drupal and are blown away at the potential. I offer up this site as a sort of "sketchpad" for what any and all in this group would like to see. I will try to keep active on how we've achieved certain functionality. We have 3 active drupal developers with admin access on the site, all working to integrate various functionality.
We've currently submitted a project to drupal that was developed "in the name of the guild": http://drupal.org/project/cgiirc
This is a slick little irc module that allows us to use irc while at work through the guild site :)
Big things we're actively working on:
--itemstats rollovers, preferably with the wowhead theme
--full raid scheduling and sign up
--videos feature section
--much more integration with the armory.
I would encourage anyone interested to join our guild site and poke around. We need any and all feedback we can to turn this into a possible installation profile to make it much easier for future guild sites to dive right into high quality, Drupal-based WoW community.

nice design
I like the design of your site and it looks pretty well put together.
an idea i had was to somehow find a way to bring wowroster into drupal. you can check it out here:
http://www.wowroster.net/ProjectsPro/project/project_id=4.html
You have to have an account to view it, so i took the luxury of setting it up. you can access by using the following credentials:
username: drupal
password: drupal
I also got some interesting hits on possibly importing the guild bank by searching 'php xml wow armory' on google. i don't have extensive php or database knowledge and just dabble in it, but if any others do, this might get interesting.
Ah, wowroster!
Good ol' wowroster! We were heavy users of it back in mid '06. We want to achieve something similar to wowroster. I'm currently messing around with both drupal addons from this site: http://losmuertos.houseofbob.net/?q=node/16.
One adds rollover effects, the other actually creates an item node whenever that item is tagged with [item]Item Name[/item]. Included in the addon is some great code to scrape and cache the xml from armory that we're currently playing around with.
The theme
Oh, and the theme is "Deco" featured at drupal.org. I wish I was half as brilliant as the guy that came up with it. We simply cobbled together a new header image.
This looks like it has potential: http://drupal.org/project/wowroster We, however, would really like to truly integrate wow stats into drupal instead of an iframe page.
how does it work? all i'd
how does it work? all i'd really be interested in, at least for starters, would be to have it gather the users in the guild. how do you even access that info from wow? i haven't really had a chance to look into it as much as i would like.
Guild Roster Only
I posted instructions on setting up a guild roster (only) on http://drupal.org/node/61346 and it's functioning at www.drakensdragoons.com

Love the guild roster
James, I love that guild roster. I'm going to attempt it this weekend at www.downfallguild.org.
We've recently installed the full events module and I'm about to build an application form using CCK and Views. The application form needs to be visible by the person who submitted it, the officers, but no one else. Will be a great primer on Drupal for us :)
The drupal-embedded irc will be back online as soon as I get in contact with my webhost. Thanks for the guild roster!
Accessing WoW info
Check http://wowarmory.com. It's pretty great. You can look up any player or guild on any server and it's all displayed using XML files. So, if you have something that can read and display XML, you have all your info virtually in real time.

Further thoughts
The application form I think should be pretty easy. Mainly you just need to have a type of form that has access permissions of "view own application" and then "view applications" for the officers. I'll look into this at the beginning of the weekend.
One of the things I am working on trying to do is to create a module that will access the individual character info when cron jobs are run and enter all of this into a database table. I want to have the data pulled from the database since sometimes the guildroster times out and breaks the page. If I have it run on a cron job and then the data is actually pulled from the database, this just means that the information shown won't be most current if the cron timed out. I'm just trying to think of the best way to display it after that. Any ideas of a good place to start?
I've also found a zip file somewhere that had 3800 different WoW icons. I can put it up somewhere for those that are interested. I would like to eventually get something similar to the way WoWarmory work, where you can view stats and even get item descriptions.
Also, I'm trying to think of what would be the best way to tie site users to characters. I am thinking of having each unclaimed character have an access code generated and then when a site user wants to tie the character to their user, the GM would give them the access code for that character. My end thoughts are basically being able to publish content with the character name as the author (kind of like a specialized Masquerade module).
Will post more when I think of some more ideas.

All great ideas!
These are all great ideas. For the application form, that's the exact approach I'm taking (soon). Wowarmory.com integration is the holy grail of these type of community sites and I think I found something that has made the biggest leap forward yet: http://www.wildejagd.org/e/08/02/wowcan-01-us-edition-drupal-module-your...
Drupal 6
I've been converting Drupal_Armory to 6 (for lack of anything better to do I suppose).
It is probably still a bit early to think about Drupal 6, because many commonly used contributed modules have not been converted.
I'm generally tweaking everything as I go, but data won't be lost when you decide to make the jump from 5 to 6 (this is why I chose to save XML data to the body rather than HTML data, because the XML has all of the data in it while the HTML may not.
http://losmuertos.houseofbob.net/?q=node/16
Generally I'm finding the advantages of Drupal 6 are the batch jobs and the schema based database install (so it should install cleanly on more databases).
The old Drupal 5 module has a lot of bugs (pre-existing and aging), but I have no plans to update the module at this time.
Woot. That's excellent.
