DrupalChat module high server load..

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hi,

I am using DrupalChat module for my site. facing problem of high server load because chat module jquery AJAX sending request to server every 2 sec, even user is not chating.

Any solution ? what technique facebook uses for chat?
Any better chat module ?

same here.

Drupal chat looks like a good prospect for the future but under developed at the min. QTChat is a little futher forward but still comes with bugs and suffers similar performance issues
