Cross-posting from the other thread (from Ariane) mostly in the Dupont Circle neighbourhood, 1.5km from the convention centre and looks really nice, and there seems to be lots of other apartments around there for short-term rentals. Other apartments and b&b's I found but didn't contact that you might want to check out:

Lots of houses for rent that look price competitive with the hostel, with the bonuses of kitchen, laundry, Wifi, etc. Looks like we'll have to make some phone calls to figure out where the places are in relation to the conference center.

Itinerary
Conference dates: March 4 - 7, 2009
In all likelihood, there will be something the day after as there usually is. I like leaving one buffer day going east, so I would recommend travel on the 2nd, return on the 9th.
