Calendar of Events

If you don’t go to Drupal than Drupal goes to you! This concept was a key for the new event organized by InternetDevels company — DrupalTour. The main idea was invented by Viktor Levandovsky (CEO of InternetDevels) and inspired by world famous Rockstars’ tours. And really, why Drupal has had no own Tour by now? Now it has!

Making a calendar of events. In the footer section, adding in a view of another content type which uses the 'Inherit contextual filters'.

I can 'Preview with contextual filters' and everything works great.
In the real window, the view in the footer never changes. It's like the contextual information never gets passed to the footer.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I have searched for several weeks now for an up-to-date tutorial on sharing event data. I am running multiple sites using Drupal 6. One of the sites has an event calendar that most of the others need to replicate while also being able to add their own events. I have successfully implemented sharing using the iCal view on the main site and the feeds module with the iCal parser on a client. Unfortunately, I can't get the iCal feed to include any additional fields. I need to have taxonomy information and a few other fields shared.

Is anyone going to the http://cmsexpo.net/? If you have gone in the past, any advice to get the most out of it? thanks!

A workable "Calendar of Events" for Drupal can be a baffling ordeal to try and get working and usable. Even trying to get a recipe to work can involve hours of wading through patches and comments to get something usable. In an earnest effort to try and reduce the madness, here is a recipe that works very well for our latest project for a client, and includes fixes we developed ourselves.
