Blog comment management

I'm trying to figure out how to manage comments in the blog module. Of course, there's a huge amount of spam comments (you don't have to be logged in to comment) and the approval queue system doesn't seem to work: When I click on the "delete" link under a comment I only receive a "Access denied. You are not authorized to access this page." message. And if I go to cp/content/comments/approval the "Choose an operation" dropdown menu doesn't have any entries. This is all despite the user in question having privileges to "administer comments". Any ideas what's wrong?

Advanced Comment

Usability testing Drupal's comment form: findings and how to fix it's problems

As part of a bigger usability testing, we recently usability tested Drupal 6 comment form.

I wrote a pretty detailed blog post on my blog.

Some of our findings generated the following issues:

Interested in hearing your opinions.

Thanks,

Comment module: the display order settings removed

Today I read the changelog of Drupal 7 and it says:

"Removed display order settings for comment module. Comment display
order can now be customised using the Views module."

As the forum for core development questions is also removed, I post my concern here in this group.

I think the display order of comments is a basic feature of comments for that I don't want to install an excessive module like Views. Is there any reason to remove this small but basic feature in core?
