Excuse me if I'm out of line with the group norms, but I'm new and with a local community arts organization and am looking for kindred spirits (or organizations) to get some wisdom from veterans on Drupal 8.x themes (free or otherwise) that might be a good starting point for organizations such as ours.

We do on-going programming in music and theater and hold events such as theater productions and annual festivals.

Looking to put together a show at a local club of all artists/musicians/bands who host their sites in Drupal. Call it DrupalCore Fest, or DrupalRox or something like that. I do not have a date, but have a potential space. Sometime in the fall, probably.

Or maybe you are a developer/designer who has built a site for a musician who could talk them into doing an event. Let me know! :)

My thought is to do this as part fund-raiser for the Drupal Association.

We (the Kendra team) are in a bit of a quandary. We need to implement our EU funded project (Kendra Signpost) using Drupal but we are unsure, given recent D7/RDF announcements, as to which direction to take, namely D6 or D7 and using which modules.

Here is a brief description of what we want to achieve with questions as how to proceed - given that we have developers that can contribute to collaborative efforts so long as there is mutual benefit and we get to build Kendra Signpost.

Overview

• Kendra is being paid by the EU to build Kendra Signpost which needs to launch middle of 2010. Let's put this EU money to good use.
• Initially we wanted to build this system using only Drupal 7 but there are a number of modules that are just not ready for us yet. But as soon as Drupal 7 is ready we want to move all projects to it. So, we need to have clear upgrade paths when we choose Drupal modules. And perhaps only work on and contribute to efforts that are both Drupal 6 and 7 simultaneously.

I notice the guys who did the <http://www.bobdylan.com">bobdylan.com site have used Drupal. Particularly like the way the music keeps playing as you visit different pages. Clever.

It's well put together with some nice touches. kudos to the team who did it.
